PURPOSE
While amounts vary across countries and cultures, people spend about a third of their lives at work. And while independent careers and remote work have increased, many workers still report to a boss or in some cases, several of them. Whether they know it or not, bosses have a major influence on the lives of the people they supervise. Those in positions of responsibility should be mindful of both the results they achieve and the effects their leadership has on the people entrusted to them at work.
With that in mind, the purpose of The Good Leader Blog is to help leaders at all levels–from the backroom to the boardroom–lead in ways that not only embody sound ethical principles, but as importantly, reflect both personal virtue and moral integrity.
PERSON
The Good Leader Blog is maintained by me, Ed Barrows. I’m a Professor of the Practice of Leadership at Brown University where I teach Ethical Leadership and Leadership and Professional Development. Readers should know in advance; I practice Catholicism. Views from this perspective, and others, will be featured in my writing. To that end, these views are mine alone and are not intended to reflect the perspectives, positions, or policies of my current or any former employers.
